Harvesting willow trees and preparing them for a silage experiment with goats at the Afaim Farm in Moshav Iddan

Huge thanks to Bookie and his crew for all their help!
We are hoping for great results, as always…
This is an experiment that is being carried out in several locations in Israel, all with irrigation water that is not suitable for drinking (either recycled from wastewater or pumped from sources of saline water under the desert floor). The research project is headed by Dr. Joshua Klein from the Volcani Center. The scientists are studying the use of willow branches grown with non-drinking water as a potential source of healthy forage (willows are a natural source of aspirin!) for goats, sheep, and cows.
