The Animal Research Unit of Southern Arava R&D has made its priority to research appropriate cooling systems for the local dairy industry. Dairying and milk marketing was the first serious modern business that allowed settlement of the Arava, remains one of the strong economic legs of the region and has strong growth potential.
We aim to promote cow-comfort, preserve cow health and reduce stress allowing these animals reach their genetic potential for productivity in the long summers and extreme heat of the Arava. Dedicated research will explore new approaches that may run contrary to accepted practices. Our mission is to harvest appropriate technologies as a spring-board for improving efficiency and sustainability.
